“I remember a very special experience when I performed before drowsy combat soldiers in the middle of the night. Some were already in their sleeping bags! I was in the Air Force Band and the army commanded us to play anyway. Fortunately, we were playing the very popular songs of Zohar Argov and soon the men began to wake up and join right in. They went from sleeping to enthusiastic dancing within seconds! The troops sang and went crazy and were able to throw off their tension, both physical and mental, by getting into the music with us. You never know at what point you’ll catch a training, fighting, struggling soldier. He may be at a weary low, troubled by lack of sleep, extreme stress and unbearable exhaustion. If you can do a small thing for him at the right moment, you can give him such a lift, such a shot of pride and energy. I call upon everyone to open their hearts and make such a moment possible for our fighting boys.
