SUPPLYING OUR TROOPS
When the war began, over 300,000 soldiers mobilized to protect Israel. The response and support from around the world were unprecedented, surpassing all expectations. However, there had been no preparation for accommodating such a vast number of soldiers, leading to a severe shortage of critical supplies.
To address this, TIS quickly established a warehouse to provide for the soldiers’ needs. Essential items like tents, sleeping bags, rain gear, warm coats, boots, and other equipment were distributed day and night. Over 360,000 supplies were provided to more than 130,000 soldiers. Supplies were sourced globally, with shipments arriving from China, America, and many other countries. Dedicated individuals worldwide contributed hundreds of bags of equipment, which were delivered to units by an army of over 4,300 volunteers.
This effort continued relentlessly from the start of the war through winter, spring, summer, and another winter. A hotline was set up, allowing soldiers to request what they needed. These requests were swiftly fulfilled, with supplies located, checked, and distributed as quickly as possible.
This remarkable operation reflected the extraordinary solidarity and generosity of the Jewish people worldwide. Only recently has the backlog of requests been successfully addressed. However, warm equipment is still very much in demand.
